What the rules actually say.
Turf rules changed in Colorado, differ across the Carolina state line, and limit what goes under turf on Florida home lawns. Here’s what each rule says, and what it means for your yard.
- Denver Metro Colorado's artificial turf law: SB24-005 as amended by HB25-1113 Colorado bans nonfunctional artificial turf, not all of it. HB25-1113 defines functional artificial turf, and the golf-course list is in the statute.
- The Grand Strand Artificial Turf and Built-Upon Area: North Carolina Says Zero, South Carolina Says Nothing North Carolina law excludes draining turf from built-upon area and bars towns from writing a stricter rule. We found no South Carolina equivalent.
- The Grand Strand Check turf rebate eligibility in Horry County We found no confirmed artificial-turf rebate in the Horry County sources we reviewed. Check your water provider, eligibility and approval before budgeting.
- Northeast Florida Turf infill in Northeast Florida: sand, shell or rock — not rubber Florida's adopted turf rule limits residential infill to clean silica sand, rock or shell. Rubber only under playground equipment. Rule 62-308.100, 19 May 2026.
- Northeast Florida Florida-Friendly Landscaping law does not cover artificial turf. Here is what does. Florida Statute 373.185 shields Florida-Friendly Landscaping from HOA bans, but it never mentions artificial turf. The statute that does is s. 720.3045.
